Frequently Asked Questions
What are the system requirements to run Presentation Manager
To use all the powerful features of Presentation Manager we recommend- 2.33GHz Intel® Core™2 processor
- 2G RAM
- A dual display graphics PCI Express card, or dual display compatible laptop.
- A video capture card (optional for a live video feed).
- A single computer monitor and a second output device (Projector, TV etc.)
What is Dual Display?
Dual
display means that your computer is sending out two separate video
signals at one time. Presentation Manager uses this technology so
the operator can make changes to the program while it is being shown to
the congregation in the middle of worship.
With a dual display interface it is even possible to run an entire
service, complete with backgrounds, songs and Bible text, without
preparing anything beforehand. Most laptops (but not all, check documentation before purchasing) are dual display compatible, and desktops can special video cards that support dual display that can be purchased from any computer retailer.
Is there a site license available for Presentation Manager?
Presentation Manager comes with a site license. This means that you can isntall and use the software on as many computers as needed on your site.Is there a Mac version of Presentation Manager?
The MAC version is currently under development. For more information please visit synapxtech.com.Can you import your own video and image files into Presentation Manager?
Absolutely. There is no limit to the about of data you can access through PM (except the size of you hard drive). All of our data is managed in various files in the CreativeLifestyles/MasterData folder on your C: drive (typically). By adding folders and images/movies to these files your data will be accessible through PM.Can I play quicktime and realplayer movies through Presentation Manager?
Presentation Manager does not come with supplied with support for QuickTime and RealPlayer movies. Support for these can be enabled in Presentation Manager through the use of a third-party software. The recommended software to use are two codec packs, a codec enables your media player to play certain types of movies, called QuickTime Lite and RealPlayer Alternative which are available from www.codecguide.com.I want to create my own movie backgrounds, what movie file format should I use?
PM will playback any generic type of movie file that can be played in other software on your computer. However, for a clear image with a small file size we recommend using the MPEG-2 format, the same format used in making DVDs. These files are relatively small for movie files (they need not be larger than 10 MB for a 30 second clip) but have great clarity and playback. If you would like to share the movies you have made with other users checkout www.pneumaworship.com a site devoted to allowing PM users to share data.Whenever I enable my Anti-virus software with Presentation Manager running it tends to lock up.
Presentation
Manager is constantly accessing the hard drive in order to give users
fast access to data. Certain settings on anti-virus packages
check for this type of activity and, consequently, conflict with PM.
When running PM it is best to disable any auto-protect
features.
When I launch Presentation Manager it gives me an error message "no disk in drive D".
This error comes up on certain machines when PM is launched. Sometimes if the computer has a DVD player with no disc this notification appears. It does not affect the software in any way, just click continue to open the software. My DVD will not play on the projector, but appears on my screen in an "Active Movie Window"
This can happen for 3 reasons.1. The Presentation #1 screen is minimized. In PM the DVD player plays over top of the Presentation #1 screen. If this screen is minimized then the DVD player plays in an active movie window. To solve this problem setup the Presentation #1 screen on the projector and then launch the DVD player.
2. The DVD encoder may not have the second screen enabled for DVD playback. Presentation Manager uses the DVD encoder from the DVD software that is installed on your machine. Consequently, it also uses the settings from that encoder. To overcome these types of issues the settings need to be changed in the DVD software that was installed with your DVD player on your computer. Make sure you update to the latest release of your DVD software if you continue to experience problems.
3. If you have checked all the DVD software settings and have not found the solution, the problem could lie with your video card software. Some DVD playback software allow the video card software to control how DVD is played on the second screen in a dual display setup. If this is the case you can modify your settings in the video card software to allow full screen video playback on the second screen. Unfortunately, not all video cards allow the user to configure all the settings. If everything seems like it is setup right but it will still not play full screen on the second monitor try running the PM operator screen on the second monitor and put the presentation #1 screen on the primary monitor. If the DVD plays in the presentation #1 window and not in the Active Movie Window on the primary monitor then the video card software is at fault. Try updating to the latest video drivers for your video card and see if more settings are available for dual display video playback.
Presentation Manager currently supports the following dvd players: Cyberlink Power DvD, InterVideo WinDvD, Sonic CinePlayer.
